The event is 9 round Swiss (174 participants, including 25 GMs, 6 WGMs, 29 IM, 7 WIM).
October 25, 19.00 - opening ceremony of the tournament, dedicated to the anniversary of the outstanding Russian chess player, the founder of the Russian chess tradition Mikhail Chigorin.
Rounds 1-8 start at 15.00.
November 3: 13.00 - start of round 9 20.00 - close ceremony

Grandmasters ELO 2600 and higher: full accommodation (single room) at the expense of the St.Petersburg Chess Federation
Grandmasters ELO 2550-2599: full accommodation (double room) at the expense of the St.Petersburg Chess Federation
Grandmasters ELO less than 2550: full accommodation at the expense of the St.Petersburg Chess Federation
Players without international titles:
50% discount is allowed for women, seniors (over 60 y. o.) and juniors (under 18 y. o.), excepting non rated players. Discounts are allowed for players from the ISU states only.
Fees can be transferred in roubles in accordance with the Central Bank USD rate for the payment day to the account of the St.Petersburg Chess Federation:

The PRIZE FUND is set as $ 5,000
1st place - $ 1,000 4th - $ 500 7th-10th places - $ 150 each
2nd place - $ 800 5th place - $ 350 11th-15th places - $ 100 each
3rd place - $ 700 6th place - $ 250
Prize sums for shared places will be divided in equal parts.
Prizes for best results in the following rating groups are set: 2400 - 2499, 2300 - 2399, less than 2300; also for best results among women, seniors (over 60 y. o.) and juniors (under 16 y. o.), provided that there will be at least 10 players in these groups.
The Buchholz Coefficient decides in case of even scores, then the Truncated Buchholz Coefficient. A player who won one of main prizes and also achieved the best result in his rating group can adopt only one prize.
Accommodation is guaranteed for those players who will confirm their participation before October 1, 2001.
